Crypto Gaming Tokens: Revisiting the 2024 List and Measuring What Matters

By

A launch-period price peak is not evidence of a durable game economy. DN’s original 2024 gaming-token list is retained as historical coverage, with its unsupported ranking, peak-price table and current trading suggestions withdrawn. This update gives readers a consistent way to examine token supply, actual usage, revenue rights and exit liquidity without treating popularity as investment quality.

What Matters: A launch-period price peak is not evidence of a durable game economy.

The ten names in the original article

The historical list covered Notcoin (NOT), Pixels (PIXEL), Saga (SAGA), Portal (PORTAL), Xai (XAI), Catizen (CATI), Heroes of Mavia (MAVIA), Gaimin (GMRX), Zentry (ZENT) and Apeiron (APRS). This is an inventory of the earlier coverage, not a current top-ten ranking or confirmation that every token, game or exchange pair remains operational.

The earlier price and market-cap peaks lacked a reproducible common observation window, supply basis and comparison method. They have been removed rather than updated with another inconsistent set of figures. The original token-purchase links and exchange-listing statements are also withdrawn pending pair-specific verification.

Why the category needs more precision

A game reward token, infrastructure token and ecosystem token may serve very different functions. A transaction used to claim a reward is not necessarily a purchase by a paying player. Wallet counts are not automatically unique people, and an airdrop campaign can produce activity that does not persist once rewards change.

Project mandates also change. For example, Zentry’s current official website describes its focus as a Human-Agentic operating system spanning AI and human activity. The original gaming-only description is therefore insufficient as a current summary. This is a provider description, not evidence of adoption, revenue or token-holder returns.

We have not reverified the current architecture or activity of the other nine projects. The earlier descriptions of network relationships and forthcoming game launches should not be treated as current technical specifications.

DN gaming-token evidence worksheet

QuestionRecord before comparingWhat the evidence cannot establish alone
What does the token do?Current contract, network, utility and any migration notice. That a token is required for every game interaction or captures project revenue.
What supply is being priced?Timestamped circulating supply, total supply, unlock schedule and price source. That a small unit price means a low valuation.
Who is using the product?Metric definition, observation window, reward campaign and bot filtering. That wallets or transactions equal retained paying players.
Where do rewards come from?Player spending, treasury subsidy, token emissions or another identifiable source. That an advertised yield is sustainable or readily convertible to cash.
Can a holder exit?Actual order size, executable depth, spread and withdrawal conditions. That a historical market cap or exchange listing represents available liquidity.
What rights are owned?Voting, access, fees or other rights under current terms. That owning the token means owning equity or a share of studio profits.

A simple supply comparison

Illustrative arithmetic: at a price of 0.50 quote units and circulating supply of 100 million tokens, circulating market capitalisation is 50 million quote units. Using a hypothetical total supply of one billion gives a fully diluted figure of 500 million at the same price. Neither figure is the cash available to sellers, and neither predicts the price after an unlock.

Use the same timestamp and consistent supply definitions when comparing projects. Record missing values as unknown. Do not rank a project on a number that cannot be traced to a source and period.

What changed

Removed the current-ranking implication, unsourced comparative performance claims, price-recovery speculation and historical trading routes. The ten names remain for provenance. For related historical context, read the corrected DN gaming-guild guide. No current investment recommendation or LIVE certification is issued here.

Methodology and corrections

Original URL, author, publication date and image are preserved. Linked documentation supports the stated mechanics or provider announcements, not independent performance certification. Unresolved availability, legal eligibility and economic outcomes remain unknown. The DN worksheet is a research aid, not personalised advice or a safety score.

Change log, 15 October 2026: corrected the claims described above, removed unverified rankings and commercial routes, and added source boundaries and a research worksheet. No new historical testing claim is made.
