Liquid Review 2027: Multi-Asset Perps, Co-Invest AI, Fees, Pre-IPO Markets and Risks Explained

Liquid is a non-custodial trading interface that brings crypto perpetuals, stocks, pre-IPO company references, commodities, FX, indices and prediction markets into one account, then exposes much of that stack to AI assistants and autonomous agents through Co-Invest and MCP.

Research updated: October 3, 2026 Operator: LiquidX AI, Inc. Category: Multi-market trading / agentic execution DN Rating: 8.5/10

What Matters

Liquid is more interesting as an execution layer than as a conventional exchange. Its current Terms describe Liquid as software, user-interface, data-display and transaction-preparation infrastructure that can transmit user-authorized instructions to third-party venues and protocols. That architecture gives Liquid unusually broad market coverage and strong AI integration, but it also means fees, execution quality, custody rules and market availability can depend on the underlying route rather than Liquid alone.

The Signal

Liquid is trying to own the layer where market discovery, portfolio context, trade construction and machine execution come together. If trading continues fragmenting across specialist protocols and asset classes, a strong abstraction and permission layer could become more valuable than owning one order book.

8.5/10
DN editorial assessment
Very strong agentic architecture, with route-level complexity traders should understand.

Liquid scores especially well for market breadth, AI/MCP integration, non-custodial design and ease of access. The main deductions are for route-dependent fee complexity, dependence on third-party venues, inconsistent 24/7 language between older docs and the current homepage, and the age/scope limits of its published security audit.

What Is Liquid?

Liquid at liquid.trade is operated by LiquidX AI, Inc., a Delaware C corporation according to its current Terms. The platform provides access to perpetual markets across crypto, stocks, pre-IPO companies, commodities, indices and FX, plus prediction markets.

The important nuance is that Liquid's own Terms say the service is limited to software, user-interface, data-display and transaction-preparation tools. Where supported, Liquid can transmit user-authorized instructions to unaffiliated third-party venues, protocols, smart contracts, wallets and other service providers. Liquid explicitly says it does not itself operate an exchange, designated contract market, swap execution facility, broker-dealer, futures commission merchant or prediction-market venue.

Liquid is better understood as a multi-market trading and execution interface than as one monolithic exchange.

Liquid's documentation says it routes markets to specialist on-chain liquidity while presenting a unified login, balance, market view and execution workflow. That is the core product thesis: hide venue fragmentation without pretending the underlying venues no longer matter.

What Can You Trade on Liquid?

Liquid's breadth is one of its clearest strengths. Current public documentation lists crypto, US and international stocks, pre-IPO company references, commodities, indices, FX and prediction markets.

US stocksTesla, Apple, Nvidia, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, MetaStock-linked perpetuals, not shares

Stock and pre-IPO exposure is not ownership

Liquid is explicit that its perpetual contracts track underlying prices without giving the trader ownership of the share, metal, currency or coin. Its current homepage also says pre-IPO markets such as OpenAI and Anthropic are perpetual markets referencing a private-company price and do not represent shares or claims on company equity.

The 24/7 Claim Needs Careful Reading

Liquid's current documentation page says every market is open 24/7/365. Its current homepage is more conservative: crypto perpetuals trade 24/7, while other markets can have venue- and market-specific hours or pauses.

DN documentation note: We use the current homepage wording as the safer publication standard. Traders should check the live order screen for the specific stock, commodity, FX or pre-IPO market rather than assume universal 24/7 execution.

How Trading Works

Liquid's standard perpetual flow is straightforward: choose direction, collateral size and multiplier, then manage the position using market or limit orders, take-profit, stop-loss, TWAP and cross or isolated margin.

That simplicity is useful, but it can also hide route-specific economics. Liquid's current Terms warn that account eligibility, order acceptance, execution, clearing, custody, settlement, surveillance and disputes can ultimately be provided by the connected third party and governed by that party's rules.

Liquid Fees: Route Matters

Liquid does not have one universal execution fee covering every market and route. Its September 18, 2026 fee guide says the exact market, account tier, maker/taker status and holding period all matter.

For the documented tier-zero crypto-perpetual schedule, Liquid currently publishes:

Execution typeTier-zero all-in rateIllustrative rate after 10% referral saving*
Taker0.095%~0.0855%
Maker0.065%~0.0585%

*Illustrative calculation applying the advertised 10% referred-user saving to the eligible modeled execution fee. Confirm the actual fee shown on the live order ticket because Liquid's fee guide says pricing differs by route and some routes may have different Liquid charges.

On Liquid, the useful question is not “what is the platform fee?” It is “what does this exact route cost after execution, slippage and funding?”

Scenario result

DN Leverage Cost Amplification: every 0.10% of round-trip friction equals roughly 4% of starting collateral at 40x before market PnL. The relevant risk number is therefore not only the fee as a percentage of notional, but the fee stack relative to the capital actually posted.
Methodology: default rates use Liquid's September 18, 2026 published tier-zero crypto-perpetual schedule. The 10% referral saving is applied to modeled eligible execution fees. Slippage and cumulative funding are user inputs. Actual venue fees, fills, funding, referral treatment and liquidation mechanics can differ. Educational use only.

Co-Invest Is the Core Differentiator

Co-Invest is Liquid delivered as an MCP server. Liquid's current documentation says it can connect a real Liquid account to ChatGPT, Claude, Meta Muse, Grok Bot and other MCP-compatible clients.

The standard version can read live prices, funding rates, open interest, positioning, liquidation maps, news, portfolio balances, positions and open orders. It can then propose market or limit trades, baskets, TP/SL changes and position exits.

The permission model is more important than the AI marketing. Liquid says standard Co-Invest uses OAuth with read and trade scopes, but cannot withdraw or transfer funds or change account settings. Standard Co-Invest also requires explicit confirmation before an order is submitted.

CapabilityStandard Co-InvestDN interpretation

Propose tradesYesAI can construct actionable orders.
Submit without confirmationNoHuman remains final execution gate.

Co-Invest Computer: Autonomous Trading With Limits

Co-Invest Computer extends the same architecture into code-agent clients such as Codex, Claude Code, Hermes and Cursor. Unlike standard Co-Invest, it can run in simulation, staged-order or live-execution mode within limits the user configures.

Liquid currently documents controls including maximum notional, maximum leverage, stop-loss requirements, optional symbol lists, daily order caps and authorization expiry. Users can pause the automation or revoke access.

DN Agentic Finance Thesis

Liquid is one of the clearest live examples of an agent-ready execution platform: structured market data, portfolio context, MCP access, explicit read/trade scopes, human confirmation for standard workflows, simulated mode, staged orders and bounded autonomous execution. The important question for 2027 is not whether AI can place a trade. It is whether permissioning and risk controls remain dependable during volatile markets and third-party venue failures.

Trading From TradingView and the Browser

Liquid's Co-Invest Chrome extension can add trading controls beside supported tickers on sites including X, Reddit, CNBC, Bloomberg, MetaTrader Web and TradingView. On TradingView, Liquid documents a Trade button that opens a Liquid trade card without requiring a conventional broker connection inside TradingView.

That is powerful distribution. It also reduces the distance between forming an opinion and taking risk, which makes position sizing and confirmation discipline more important.

Funding the Account

Liquid's documentation currently lists funding routes including cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfers, Cash App, PayPal, Venmo, transfers from Coinbase and Robinhood, and supported crypto deposits including USDC across several networks.

Availability depends on region and the third-party provider used for the on-ramp.

Non-Custodial Does Not Mean Risk-Free

Liquid says users authorize wallet actions directly and that Liquid does not maintain a custodial account balance on their behalf. But the Co-Invest docs and Terms both make an important distinction: collateral committed to an underlying trading venue remains subject to that venue's margin, liquidation and withdrawal rules.

Liquid can reduce direct platform custody exposure without eliminating underlying venue, smart-contract, liquidation, oracle or routing risk.

Security: What the Zellic Audit Actually Says

Liquid publicly links a Zellic security assessment dated August 28, 2025. The engagement ran from July 28 to August 27, 2025 and covered the LiquidMax Swift application, backend server and Privy recovery site.

Finding impactCount
Critical0
High3
Medium4
Low3
Informational1

The audit is meaningful, but it should not be oversold. Zellic's public report says the detailed findings were redacted because the assessed code was not public. The audit also excluded the leaderboard backend, access codes, project infrastructure and key custody.

Zellic further wrote that parts of the backend codebase appeared somewhat disorganized at the time and recommended stronger review, testing and automation. It described the Swift application and Privy recovery site as being in a healthier security state.

DN Security View

Positive: Liquid publishes the auditor, date, exact repositories/versions, scope and finding counts.

Limitation: the public report does not disclose the detailed high- and medium-impact findings or provide a current public remediation matrix.

What we would like next: a new assessment covering current Co-Invest, MCP, routing and autonomous execution surfaces, plus a public remediation status for the 2025 findings.

Company Backing and Scale

Liquid announced an $18 million Series Seed round in April 2026 led by Neo and Left Lane Capital. Its current homepage says the platform has processed more than $5 billion in trades and is trusted by more than 70,000 traders.

Those volume and user figures are company-reported rather than independently audited exchange statistics, so we treat them as platform claims rather than third-party-verified market-share data.

Liquid Earn, Vaults and Social Features

Liquid also documents yield and vault features for idle capital, plus a social layer with trader profiles, realized-PnL leaderboards, following, feeds, one-tap copying, trade cards, contests and communities.

These are useful engagement features, but they also create separate risks. Vault yield is strategy exposure, not guaranteed stablecoin interest. Copying a profitable trader is not the same as understanding their leverage, drawdowns or tail risk.

The Biggest Risks

RiskWhy it matters
LeverageUp to 40x on crypto and up to 50x on selected FX/index markets can cause rapid liquidation.
Underlying venueExecution, eligibility, custody, settlement and disputes can be governed by connected third parties.
RoutingA unified interface can hide meaningful differences between venues and fee schedules.
FundingHolding costs can change after the trade is opened.
SlippageEspecially important in thinner pre-IPO and synthetic real-world markets.
AI executionA model can misread context or execute an unwanted trade within its granted permissions.
AutomationLive Co-Invest Computer mode can submit orders automatically within configured limits.
Security scopeThe public audit dates to 2025 and excluded some important components.
Reference-price riskPre-IPO and other synthetic markets depend on pricing mechanisms that may differ from a user's idea of “fair value.”
JurisdictionProduct availability and legal treatment vary by market, venue and user location.

Who Is Liquid Best For?

What Liquid Gets Right

Multi-asset UXNon-custodialMCPCo-InvestPaper modePre-IPO marketsTradingView integration

Market abstraction: Liquid attacks the fragmentation problem directly.

Agentic execution: Co-Invest is not merely a chatbot. It has structured permissions and account-changing capabilities.

Onboarding: the funding surface is unusually broad for a non-custodial product.

Transparency: publishing a security report that includes high- and medium-impact findings is more useful than presenting an audit badge without context.

What Liquid Still Needs to Prove

Route transparency: users should be able to see the underlying venue, fee stack and execution economics clearly for every market.

Security refresh: the published audit predates major current AI and MCP functionality.

Agent safety under stress: autonomous limits look sensible, but real-world reliability during volatility and external venue failures matters.

Pre-IPO price quality: private-company derivatives need transparent reference methodology and durable liquidity.

Documentation consistency: the difference between older universal 24/7 language and current venue-specific wording should be cleaned up.

What Would Change Our View?

Would raise our assessmentWould lower our assessment
Venue-level fee and execution transparency on every order ticket.Persistent ambiguity over underlying route economics.
A current independent audit covering Co-Invest, MCP and routing.Material wallet, OAuth, routing or smart-contract incident.
Published execution-quality data across order sizes and asset classes.Repeated execution deterioration during volatility.
Public remediation status for the 2025 Zellic findings.Unresolved high-impact issues or unclear upgrade coverage.
More transparent pre-IPO reference-price methodology.Pricing disputes or weak liquidity in private-company markets.
Long-run evidence that autonomous limits behave correctly under stress.Agent execution exceeding configured risk boundaries.

Final Verdict

Liquid is one of the more ambitious trading interfaces we have reviewed because it is solving a different problem from a normal exchange.

Instead of building one more venue and asking users to move all of their activity there, Liquid is trying to make fragmented markets feel like one programmable account.

That design is already visible in its combination of crypto, stocks, commodities, FX, indices, pre-IPO references and predictions; its non-custodial architecture; its browser and TradingView integrations; and its MCP-based AI execution stack.

The compromise is that abstraction does not make the underlying mechanics disappear. Traders still need to understand venue-specific fees, funding, liquidity, market hours, smart contracts and liquidation rules.

DN Alpha Thesis

The next major trading category may not be “CEX versus DEX.” It may be the agentic execution layer sitting above many venues. If AI agents become normal interfaces for capital allocation, the strongest products may be those that combine broad market access with transparent routing, tightly scoped permissions, simulation and auditable risk controls. Liquid is one of the clearest current attempts to build that layer.
