DN Decision Briefs / Platform evidence

Aster

Aster orderbook perpetuals distinguish cross, isolated and multi-asset margin. Shared collateral, negative balances and withdrawal constraints can matter more than a headline trading rate.

What Matters

Identify the product and the collateral at risk.

Provider-documentation review of Aster perpetual trading. Not a live execution test, exhaustive product inventory, security audit or individual eligibility assessment.

This brief covers orderbook perpetuals. Separate 1001x-mode rules and Grid strategies are outside its scope; conditions should not be carried across products.

Provider-reported

Is the overview rate an all-in price?

The perpetuals overview advertises separate maker and taker rates. It does not establish the total cost of a particular order and holding period.

Why it matters: Check the current account schedule, funding, execution price and any collateral-related charges before comparing venues.

What changes between cross and isolated margin?

The margin guide describes cross margin as shared across positions and isolated margin as allocated to one position. It says mode changes are restricted once positions or open orders exist.

Why it matters: Choose and verify the mode before submitting an order; a shared balance exposes more than the margin displayed for one position.

Can multi-asset margin create additional costs?

Multi-Asset Mode operates only with cross margin. The guide describes automatic asset conversion and hourly interest on negative balances beyond the stated exemption threshold.

Why it matters: Inspect current thresholds, rates and conversion haircuts. Holding another collateral asset does not necessarily eliminate settlement-asset debt.

Does the wallet balance equal the transferable amount?

The transfer guide calculates limits using margin requirements, open orders and unrealized PnL. The formula changes with cross or isolated mode.

Why it matters: A balance display is not a promise that the entire amount can be transferred immediately. DN has not tested withdrawals.

Can promotional fee credits replace collateral?

The AFEE guide says AFEE offsets trading fees but cannot open positions as margin or cover funding, liquidation fees and other costs.

Why it matters: Separate fee credits from usable collateral and cash. A reduced trading-fee bill can leave other charges unchanged.

Does a TWAP strategy guarantee fills?

The TWAP guide describes execution as best effort and subject to liquidity, volatility and possible slippage.

Why it matters: Treat scheduling as an order-management feature, not a promise of price or completion. No independent fill comparison is included here.

Evidence boundary

No invented rates. No implied guarantees.

  • Current executable quotes and all-in holding costs
  • Independent fill, stop-loss and withdrawal reliability
  • Live signing permissions and revocation behaviour
  • Individual eligibility and current regional restrictions

No numerical all-in cost is calculated. A valid comparison needs contemporaneous quotes for matching assets, product modes, notional sizes, directions and holding periods, with entry, holding and exit costs included.
